I was fortunate to do a course for Gnomon Workshop about procedural cliff materials. I focused on building a session that delivers knowledge that can be directly used in production.

In this course, we start by creating a realistic procedural cliff surface, building it step by step, from the foundation of the height map and procedural sculpting, the major breakups, fine details, and finally the creation of highly detailed color and roughness maps.
I also took the opportunity to explore scalability in Substance Designer, by developing three variations of the same material with different features that come together as a complete, flexible material collection.
Everything was recorded from start to finish at a comfortable pace, with detailed explanations throughout. The whole tutorial lenghts is around 4h30 so you can follow it in an afternoon. My hope is that it helps people better understand how to approach this kind of material work.
