Painterly Tools, Filters and Grunges

Here is an overview of some tools I built while creating painterly materials. Those are setups I use quite a lot and turned into tools to speed up my work. I still have some tweaks and features I would like to add before releasing those if it interest anyone. But I hope it give some insight about my process.
None of those are magical filters that will turn something into a painterly surface but they can help streamline some steps of the process while giving consistency and speed.

The Brushify Filter apply a brush strokes movement to the primary input, following a custom height map. It's mainly using a non uniform directionnal warp and slope blurs. It works on Color and Greyscale inputs.

This Colorize is a very simple setup of blended flat colors in chains with masks clamped to each third of the histogram.

This Dilute filter take advantage of the Non Uniform Directionnal Warp to push pixels in a waterly manner.

The simpliest but funniest tool I did. A grunge map generator using procedural and handmade brushstrokes. I use it all the time on stylized and realsitic surfaces.

I did the handmade brushstrokes on watercolor paper, fixed on a wooden plank, with chinese ink. Reminds me of the good old days.
