Portuguese chair leather work

Late in production we decided with Olivier Trehet to redo the portuguese chair that is offered at oda Nobunaga at the beginning of the game. We wanted it to be more polish to work along side the lines made by the finest artisans in Portugal.
__________
After finding some amazing references we decided to split the work in two parts, I would create the fun ciseled leather heighmap for the back and base, Olivier would take care of the hard work of scultping the chair, baking and texturing it. I created those decorations in few days relying on alphas made for the project, external banks and some I did especially for it like the Sunflowers, dry leaves, vases and few other.
Some elements were zgrabs, other completely procedurals (or at least nodals) and build together in Designer. I also took care to give a sense connection to the elements to feel carved instead of simply extrude on a surface.
__________
We rarely worked as a tandem like that but I enjoyed it a lot. To see the amazing work of Olivier Trehet and the final render, head to his portfolio, I'm sure you will appreciate his hard work.
